Former television journalist Jennifer Valoppi -- former NBC 6 anchor and a Beach resident since 1997 -- has a new book out: Certain Cure: Where Science Meets Religion (Murray Hill Press, $16.95). The novel, Valoppi's first, is about a woman dying of cancer and a mysterious doctor from China who arrives to cure her.
''I took real ancient Judeo-Christian prophesies and wove them into an end-days thriller,'' said Valoppi, 47. ``The book poses the question: If man is on an eternal quest for immortality, when he finds it, does the search for God become irrelevant?" Read More.
Valoppi says it took two years to write the book, and acknowledges several locals for bringing authenticity to her plot line, including neurosurgeon Barth Green, radiologist Al Eiber, oncologists Elisa Krill Jackson and Laurie Blach, orthopedic surgeon Mark Sinnreich and attorney Howard Srebnick. Currently, the book is available only via the Internet. Through January, purchasers will receive bonus gifts including tips from dermatologist Diane Walder and modeling guru Irene Marie. Valoppi says she plans to donate $1 from every book sold to charity. In 1997, Valoppi co-founded the Women of Tomorrow Mentor and Scholarship program. She is married to Chris Berdauore and has two sons, Julian, 10, and Jordan, 8. For excerpts or to order the book, visit www.certaincure.com. |
