ImageFormer WTVJ-NBC 6 anchor Jennifer Valoppi recently completed her first novel and has hired Connecticut-based literary agent Bob Diforio. He is shopping it to publishers here and overseas and has already sold German-language rights to Austrian publisher Otherworld Verlag.

Valoppi, 48, titled the book The Cure. 'A controversial `end of days' thriller where nanotechnology is the ultimate cancer cure, created by a mysterious doctor from China,'' she says. Characters include a female TV talk show host and a former NYPD chief. Valoppi anchored in the Big Apple for seven years and has covered science and medicine. ''I still can't balance my checkbook, but I can give a reasonable explanation of quantum physics,'' she says.

Diforio's D4EO Literary Agency also represents best-selling fiction writers Robert K. Tanenbaum (the Butch Karp legal thrillers) and Jack Du Brul (Philip Mercer adventure series). Valoppi, who left NBC 6 in 2004, is married to Chicken Kitchen prez Christian de Berdouare. That's him -- Chief Chickenologist -- on the billboard on I-95 south near Calle Ocho.
